Web Foundation · May 30, 2013

We’re pleased to announce that the Web Foundation has become a network partner to the World Summit Youth Awards (WSYA), meaning we’ll be lending our support and technical expertise to promoting the awards and advising the winners. These awards, which are open to anyone under the age of 30, select and promote best practice in e-content and new media, demonstrate young people’s potential to create outstanding digital content and serve as a platform for people from all UN member states to work together in the efforts to put the UN Millennium Development Goals into action.

Applications are open now until 1 July, and submissions are invited from anyone under 30, anywhere in the world, who is using technology to tackle social challenges in the following six categories:

1.   Fight Poverty, Hunger and Disease

2.   Education for All

3.   Power 2 Women

4.   Create your Culture

5.   Go Green

6.   Pursue the Truth

Application is free, and the best projects will be invited to the WSYA Winners’ Event later this year and given the opportunity to present their project on an international stage.

Further information, including details on how to apply, is available at www.youthaward.org. You can also connect with the WSYA community on Facebook (www.facebook.com/youthaward) or via Twitter @youthaward.
