Since last week’s revelations around the NSA’s PRISM surveillance programme, the team at the Web Foundation has been actively involved in the global civil society response. Here is a brief update:
- On Friday, we released a widely-reported statement from Tim Berners-Lee, calling “unwarranted government surveillance…an intrusion on basic human rights”
- We worked alongside other leading CSOs to craft a statement delivered to the UN Human Rights Council on Monday. You can view the statement and add your support here.
- We’re supporting the launch of Stopwatching.us, a site launched today which demands immediate action from Congress. 86 CSOs and lawmakers signed a letter to Congress which launched the initiative – please visit the site and show your support here.
We’ll continue to update you on our activities in the coming days and if you want to help, or have other ideas/initiatives you think we should be looking at, please let us know in the comments.
