The annual Africa Gathering conference kicks off tomorrow, June 15, 2012 in London. Hosted by the Thompson Reuters Foundation and in collaboration with the Indigo Trust, the conference seeks to reframe the debate around Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Africa. Web Foundation program managers Aman Grewal, Franco Papeschi, and Hania Farhan will join attendees and keynote speakers from Africa, Google UK, BBC, Indigo Trust and the World Bank to discuss the start-up culture across Africa and showcase some of the great ideas that have emerged in the continent.
The morning will see three parallel workshops and breakout group thinks running along different themes – Hubs and Tech Spaces, Leadership, and Marketing/New Media – until the afternoon’s Storytellers sessions, ending the day with a plenary session with presentations from a variety of speakers from Africa, CNN and the World Bank Team.
Web Foundation program manager Franco Papeschi will deliver an update on the Mobile Entrepreneurship Initiative highlighting some of the exciting products and services coming out of the labs supported by the Web Foundation, as well as the needs to bring sustainability to the start-ups and entrepreneurial society across the region. Don’t miss his presentation as it brings to close the first of two Message Chiefs and Storytellers sessions Friday afternoon. You can see his presentation below
