Marty Wikstrom joins Web Foundation as board member

Web Foundation · October 19, 2018

The Web Foundation is pleased to welcome world-leading retail executive Marty Wikstrom as the newest member of the board. Marty joins a diverse international team, responsible for setting the Web Foundation’s strategic direction as it works to ensure that everyone can access the web and use it to improve their lives.

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Founding Director of the World Wide Web Foundation said:

I’m thrilled to welcome Marty to the board. With her background in strategic management, she will make an invaluable contribution to the organisation as we fight for a web for everyone.”

Marty Wikstrom is a brand and retail executive with over 30 years’ experience in global executive roles. She serves on a number of boards including Fortnum & Mason, Johnstons of Elgin and The Rug Company, and is a founding partner of Atelier Fund.

Marty Wikstrom said:

“To be offline today is to be denied opportunities to communicate, to create, to learn and to earn. I’m proud to join the Web Foundation’s fight for digital equality — a world where everyone can access these opportunities.”

Marty Wikstrom took up her post on October 16th, alongside Tom Jenkins who joins as Board Chair. Tom and Marty follow former Nigeria ICT Minister Omobola Johnson who was appointed to the Web Foundation board earlier this year.
