We are excited to announce that the Web Foundation has created the new role of Research Director and that Dhanaraj Thakur has taken up this position. As Research Director he will lead and coordinate research across the Web Foundation, ensuring that we continue to leverage insights from these activities to help deliver digital equality for all.
Dhanaraj was previously Senior Research Manager with A4AI (a Web Foundation initiative) and has been designing and leading research projects on telecoms policy and regulation, gender and ICTs, and the relationships between technology and political participation in low and middle-income countries for the last twelve years. He has also published over 35 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and other papers; and held academic faculty positions in public administration and political science in the United States and Jamaica.
He holds a PhD in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), is a former Fulbright scholar, and is a graduate of the University of West Indies (Mona, Jamaica).
