This week, the Web Foundation – along with dozens of other civil society organisations in the Best Bits network – delivered a letter to the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Dr. Hamadoun Touré. In this letter, we call for greater transparency at the forthcoming ITU plenipotentiary meeting, including the webcasting of all sessions, and the establishment of an online platform for public submissions. The ITU Plenipot is an important gathering, with significant ramifications for global telecommunications policy in the years ahead. It is only right that decision-making processes should be as open as possible, informed by diverse views, and accessible to all via the Web.
