Last night in New York, the Web’s 25th birthday was celebrated at the 18th Annual Webby awards. Inventor of the World Wide Web and founder of the Web Foundation, Sir Tim Berners-Lee took to the stage and delivered a speech looking at the past, present and future of the Web. In closing, he delivered a call to everyone to take ownership of our Web, trimming the Webbys traditional five word statement to just three, declaring: “Up to us”.
The full video of Sir Tim’s address, and a short film by the Webbys celebrating 25 years of the web, is embedded below. For those of you with a little more time on your hands, it’s well worth checking out the collaboration between the Webbys and webat25.org, where 25 artists, thinkers and makers have come together to celebrate 25 years of the Web.
