Web We Want Festival is Back!

Web Foundation · May 25, 2015

From Friday May 29th to Sunday May 31st, the Web We Want Festival is back at London’s Southbank Centre. A partnership between the Web Foundation and the Southbank Centre, the Web We Want Festival is a celebration of all that’s great about the Web, and a chance to debate and shape its future alongside some of the world’s greatest minds. There will be digital artworks, great music, controversial talks and debates…and the chance to play some vintage video games!

Highlights include:

Towards a Magna Carta for the Web, Saturday 30th May, 10.30 AM

Sir Tim Berners-Lee picks the brains of a diverse set of leaders, including Baroness Martha Lane Fox, Twitter’s UK Head of Public Policy, and DJ Spooky, the international artist and musician. Expect Tim to ask – What type of Web do you want? And how can we build it together?

When Science Fiction Becomes a Reality, Saturday 30 May, 3.30 PM

A group of scientists and experts asks: what aspects of sci fi have become reality and what are the ethical consequences of this? How will use of artificial intelligence in the digital realm affect our relationship with technology?

The controversial founder of Wikileaks Assange joins the Festival live from the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he is currently a political refugee.
