Web Foundation · October 7, 2013

The World Wide Web Foundation is pleased to announce that the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) has been launched today in Abuja, Nigeria.

A4AI is a new, global coalition of more than 30 members committed to driving down the cost of internet access in less developed countries, with a focus on policy and regulatory reform. The Web Foundation initiated the Alliance and will serve as its secretariat. Global sponsors of the Alliance are Google, Omidyar Network, the UK Department for International Development and USAID. Other members include: ICT companies from developing and developed nations; global, national and regional civil society organisations; and public sector and academic institutions.

You can find out more by visiting the Alliance’s website here, or reading the launch press release here. We urge you to support this initiative.
