Renata is Global Campaign Manager for the Web We Want initiative, which aims to create a positive human rights agenda for internet users.
She is a Guatemalan Human Rights and Intellectual Property Lawyer, and an advocate for freedom of expression, privacy, access to information and indigenous rights. She was the leading reporter for “Mapping Digital Media: Guatemala¨. As part of her work for the Citizen Lab Cyber Stewards Project, she is researching the harmful effects of surveillance in transitional countries and countries affected by the war on drugs. She is also a member of Creative Commons Board of Directors and previously served as a member of the Web Index Science Council.
Renata holds a Law Degree from University Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala and a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from University of Turin in Italy.
